This beautiful municipality of the Marina Baja, located 13 kms from Benidorm, has a population of about 24,000 inhabitants, of which 34% is foreign.
Its heritage as a fishing village is seen in its white houses and in the way its streets have to empty into the sea from steep slopes. The image of the Costa Blanca is created with the Church of Consuelo, located at the top of the old town, with its blue and white dome, typical of Mediterranean towns.It is a city full of art, and many artists, singers, actors and actresses have qualified it as the most beautiful municipality in the Costa Blanca and one of the loveliest in Spain.
Its watch towers: Bellaguarda and Galera take us back to its past like place coveted by Berber pirates. As a curiosity, on the outskirts of Altea is the first orthodox temple built in Spain.
